Colleen mainly raced at Rye House, winning her first 5 graded races there and not losing a graded race until she reached A1! She was one of the tightest railers you would ever see and few would catch her if she managed to grab the rail and get round the first bend cleanly. She is also one of the keenest dogs you will see and will be remember at tracks for bouncing around all over the place at the sound of the hare moving!!
She won her Heat of the Rye Autumn Standard competition but was unfortunately crowded out of the races in the final, the trap draw going against her. As she is only small, racing at less that 24kg, taking a knock set her back in a race more than it would a larger dog.
She was then stepped up to 6 bends where she won an open and went on to reach the final of the Group 3 Rye Half Grand Stayers Competition. However, again the trap draw was against her, giving her the impossible task of running from Trap 5!!!! As predicted, she was crowded out of the race at the first bend, unable to get to the rail, but ran on well to secure 4th place.
Colleen ran in top grade and in opens at Rye, Sittingbourne, Walthamstow (where she ran against the likes of Baltimore Joe, Ronnies Flight, Nibbley Bits and twice Kent Derby Champion Marera Spark!!!) and Crayford.
When she came into season in October 2005, the decision was taken to breed from her so she went to Maxie Rumble and gave birth to 5 pups on 8th January 2006. It was planned that she would make a racing comeback but after the closure of Rye House, the decision was taken to retire her. She is currently still living with her pups, but must have taught them well as they are now all running and winning at Harlow! With such an 'excitable' mum, some of her spirit must have rubbed off on them!!!!
